Russell Wilson's Whip and Nae Nae was OK, but was it the best? The dance, inspired by Silento's "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" is just the latest craze to hit the sports world, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

That means it's time to take a look at some of the best performances. Now, if every sports figure who has ever hit the Whip and Nae Nae in front of a camera were included, we'd be here all day. No, we're just looking at the most entertaining versions.

That usually means they are either funny, adorable, actually display competent dance moves or just have mad swagger. Whatever the case, all 16 performers have one thing in common: They're not boring. Silento himself even weighed in on a few performances.

An honorable mention goes to Gronk—the video quality on his Whip/Nae Nae is not great. Plus, let's be honest: We've seen better from him.

Silento and Paws

Obviously, Silento did it best. But just to kick things off, let's watch the man himself teach the Whip and Nae Nae to a few sports folks.

Silento stopped by a Detroit Tigers game in June and gave a tutorial to shortstop Jose Iglesias. Iggy did OK, but the real star was Paws. The Tigers mascot caught on in no time. Plus, mascots hitting the Whip/Nae Nae is just hilarious, right?

Rich Rodriguez

The University of Arizona gymnastics team made a Whip and Nae Nae video, and it had a high-profile guest star in head football coach Rich Rodriguez.

Silento spoke with Hallie Grossman of ESPN.com and graded some of the sports renditions of his viral hit. Of Rich Rod, the artist said the coach was "killing it" and added, "He did an awesome job. It looked like he had been practicing a little bit. ... I think the gymnastics team had been teaching him."

Stefanie Dolson

Washington Mystics center Stefanie Dolson made a special appearance during tryouts for the Washington Wizards dance team. She and G-Wiz hit the Whip and Nae Nae, but really, Dolson stole the show.

Monumental Network shared an even better version of her performance here.

Dabo Swinney

4 of 16

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney's Whip/Nae Nae definitely falls into the hilarious category. After his Tigers beat Louisville in the ACC opener, Swinney joined the locker room celebration and pretty much took over.

Almost as funny as Swinney himself were his players' reactions. Classic.

Little Rangers Fan

In August, a young Texas Rangers fan showed what true dedication is. His Whip/Nae Nae haircut earned him an interview in the stands. When asked "what it means" by a host who might, quite possibly, live under a rock, the kid demonstrated. Adorable? Check. Solid dance moves? Check.

Jimmy Uso and the Referee

6 of 16

In a WWE event in September, professional wrestler Jimmy Uso and referee Chad Patton hit the Whip and Nae Nae together, and it was awesome.

Uso really got into it, but the best part of this had to be Patton. How often do we get to see referees let loose like that?

Nationals Presidents

There had to be at least one more mascot in here, right? This one comes courtesy of the Washington Nationals.

Every Nats home game features a race of six U.S. mascot presidents. In August, all six hit the Whip and Nae Nae, though Teddy Roosevelt was the one who really crushed it.

Rutgers Dance-off

8 of 16

In August, the Rutgers football team had a dance-off, and of course there was some Whip and Nae Nae action. Quarterback Giovanni Rescigno went for it so hard he fell over. Still, a lot of times, the entertainment is in the effort.

According to Brett Smiley of Fox Sports, the dance-off title went to defensive lineman Kevin Wilkins, but Rescigno still gave it a good show.

Andy 'Randy' Kennedy

9 of 16

Ole Miss men's basketball coach Andy Kennedy really got into his performance of the Whip and Nae Nae—er, Randy did. Kennedy's alter ego originated from a misspelled headline, according to James Dator of SB Nation, and now it's being used to sell season tickets.

Not only did Kennedy nail the moves, but Randy is just generally hilarious.

Russel Wilson and Ciara

Neither Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson nor Ciara have a problem performing a flawless Whip/Nae Nae. They proved as much at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in July. Still, let's be honest: Wilson's swagger was significantly elevated by that of his entertainer girlfriend.

Torrey Smith's Son TJ

11 of 16

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith has an adorable little boy. At the ripe age of one, young TJ was already hitting the Whip and Nae Nae.

OK, you can only see the Whip part in this Instagram video, but let's just operate under the assumption he hit the Nae Nae, too.

Frank Kaminsky

12 of 16

Charlotte Hornets rookie Frank Kaminsky put on a show during the team's preseason trip to Shanghai. He performed what could possibly be described as a Whip/Nae Nae at the very beginning of his rookiedance-off routine. It's not visible in many of the available videos, but check out this one from NBA.com, and don't miss the start.

This was sheer hilarity, and no one who saw Kaminsky's appearance on ESPN's Sports Nation in April should be surprised.

Ruffin McNeill

13 of 16

Ruffin McNeill, head football coach at East Carolina, led a few of his players in a performance of the Whip and Nae Nae during the school's freshman convocation in August.

McNeill gets high marks because Silento himself said so. The artist gave the coach a 10 out of 10 and told Hallie Grossman of ESPN.com, "Coach Ruff is getting it, isn't he! He's getting them crunk, and his rhythm is great. No. 28 got that bop down, and No. 69 broke his leg and spun around, but Coach Ruff is the best dancer. He led the whole thing and had his coach swag."

Riley Curry

14 of 16

Things just don't get much cuter than Steph Curry's daughter Riley hitting the Whip and Nae Nae at her third birthday party. She's good, too.

Riley's dad later performed the moves at an event in the Philippines, but even he said it was Riley who taught him, per Tanya Basu ofTime.

Baker Mayfield

15 of 16

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has showed off his Whip/Nae Nae chops more than once. Amid a QB competition in May, Mayfield put his moves on display for teammates and proved he is certainly not shy.

Of a later performance in July, Silento gave Mayfield a nine out of 10 and told Hallie Grossman of ESPN.com, "He's actually dancing, and everyone else is kind of just looking at him. At the hook, the Whip/Nae Nae part, he did a twist. And on the 'Watch me' he said, 'Oh, watch me' by falling on the ground. He was very creative."

    Creative and awesome.

Mighty Mites

16 of 16

Now this was great. A youth football team from Massachusetts, the Milford Mighty Mites, hit the Whip and Nae Nae during on-field action. Per Extra Mustard, the kids are in the nine-year-old range, and their priorities obviously go jams, then football.

These kids couldn't not Whip and Nae Nae. They showed they have swagger, they can dance and the whole thing managed to be hilarious and adorable. It had it all—the full entertainment package.
